Swimming Carnival

20/03/2018
On Friday 23rd March, students aged 9 – 12 Years will be participating in the annual swimming carnival.  All children 9 – 12 years old will need swimming gear, minimum of 2 x towels (one to sit on in tent and one to dry), sunscreen, hat, morning tea, lunch and plenty of water to drink for the day.

Please note that the canteen at the pool will be closed on the day. Students are required to bring their own lunch and snacks.

The Carnival is an inter-house competition. All students have been encouraged to participate in as many events as they are capable and will be required to choose either 15m or 50m races to compete in for their nominated strokes. 100m Freestyle and butterfly are optional.

Students are encouraged to come in their team colours (Pioneer/yellow, Hamilton/green and Dalrymple/red) and will meet at school at their class room at 8:50am for roll marking. At 9am students will walk with teachers to the pool. 100m freestyle will begin at 9:30am.

A limited number of programs will be available for sale on the day at a cost of 50c.  For those parents attending, should you decide to take your child home after the Carnival, you are reminded that you will need to notify your teacher to be marked off the roll.

As a guide, an approximate time of each event is listed below:
(Please note each event will commence with 9 years)

This is a school carnival and healthy competition is welcome, however the main focus is on participation of students and everyone trying their best to compete to the best of their ability. We are not the Olympics!

Mirani State School is a “Photo Friendly School” and parents are welcome to take photos of their child. The school would appreciate that any photos taken on the day are provided to the school on a usb or CD and that only photos of your own child can be placed onto any social media site eg Facebook.

Finally if the weather takes a turn for the worst, a decision will be made at 8:20am on Friday morning as to whether the carnival will go ahead as planned.
