Principal News 13 August 2019

G’day Parents / Caregivers
All the best to the 48 Year 6 students who are jetting off very early on Sunday morning for their Sydney / Canberra excursion.  They are sure to have an excellent time with an itinerary jam packed with significant cultural and educational experiences including; Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo, Parliament House, Australian War Memorial, Australian Institute of Sport and of course a day in the snow!  Huge thanks to Mr Johnson, Mr Torrens, Mrs Watt and Miss Fry for giving up their personal and family time to ensure our students can participate in this wonderful opportunity. Year 4 will hit the road the following Tuesday, joined by Ms Dockery, Mrs Noble, Mrs Pershouse, Mrs Douglas and Mr De Boni on their camp to Rockhampton / Yeppoon.  The following week Mrs Wilkins, Mrs McAnulty, Mr Brown and Mrs Neilson will accompany the Year 5 group to Fairburn Dam for the first time. Have fun one & all!
Below are some important arrangements for next week with so many staff, including Brett and myself, involved in camp activities:
  • Teachers in Charge (Tues-Fri): Mrs Smith (Prep – Year 2) & Mrs Wilkins (Year 3 – 6).  Please be mindful that these teachers will be on class and request that only urgent issues are raised during this time.  If non-urgent, issues will be following week when Bruce and Brett return.
  • 3F: Mrs Handley will be teaching 3F whilst Miss Fry is on Year 6 camp.
  • Remaining Year 4 & 6 students: Year 6 will join Year 5 and Year 4 will join Year 3 / 4M.
Busy times!
In this newsletter, you will find information regarding Reading training for parents / volunteers to be held at Marian SS next Tuesday (20th).  The training does not obligate anyone to volunteering and looks an excellent opportunity to develop skills to support your children.
Don’t forget to complete your parent / caregiver School Opinion Survey as per the individual information sent home last week – your feedback is appreciated!!!  The survey closes on August 23.
Have an AWESOME week!
Cheers Bruce
