Principal News - 29th August, 2017

G’day Parents / Caregivers,
They’re back!!! The intrepid travellers from Year 6 have returned from their southern sojourn to Sydney and Canberra and they had a ball!  Once again the trip to Perisher for the ‘snow day’ was an undisputed highlight for many students, especially with good snow falls during the season. Some other highlights included; Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo, the Australian War Memorial, Australian Mint and Questacon and meeting the Governor General, Peter Cosgrove.
Massive thanks must go to ALL the supervisors who chaperoned the group and gave up their personal and family time.  Thanks to Mr De Boni, Mrs McAnulty, Mrs Woodland and Mr Callander – your generosity and commitment to our school and ALL students is greatly appreciated.
Year 4 students have also returned from their annual camp at Rockhampton and Yeppoon.  Students enjoyed a range of activities including the Dreamtime Centre, Heritage Village, Koorana Croc Farm and Thunder Egg fossicking.  Thanks to Mrs Dockery for organising the activity and fellow supervisors; Mrs Carlaw, Mrs Neil and Mr T for giving our students this wonderful opportunity for their first big camp.
Finally on the camp front, next Thursday the Year 3 students will have their overnight sleepover with Mrs Laidlow, Mrs Woodland, Mrs Shaw, Mr D & Mr T.  Mirani SS is a busy place at the end of Term 3.
Our permanent shade structure in front of the P&C / Sports Shed has been completed.  The area will be a terrific resource for PE lessons and activities such as 125th celebrations and Year 3 Camp.  Thanks P&C for continuing to support ALL students at our school!
Finally, don’t forget the 125th Meeting tonight at 6 pm.
Cheers Bruce
